Dr. Kurt J. Lauk

Dr. Kurt J. Lauk is a distinguished German business leader, economist, and former politician with a career spanning over four decades at the intersection of industry, finance, and public policy. He holds an M.A. in History and Theology from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business (1977), and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Kiel. Dr. Lauk began his professional journey at the Boston Consulting Group, where he led the German practice from 1978 to 1984. He then served as Chairman of the Management Board at Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbH, and subsequently held executive roles at Audi AG, VEBA AG (now E.ON), and DaimlerChrysler AG, where he was responsible for the commercial vehicles division. In the political arena, Dr. Lauk was a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009, representing Baden-Württemberg and serving on the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. He also served as President of the Economic Council of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) from 2000 to 2015, advising Chancellor Angela Merkel on economic policy. Currently, Dr. Lauk is President of Globe Capital Partners, a private investment firm he founded in 2000. He serves on various corporate boards, including Magna International and Tachyum, and is a member of the Trilateral Commission and the International Institute for Strategic Studies. At Paris Metropolitan University, Dr. Lauk brings his extensive experience in global business strategy and economic policy, enriching our academic community with his insights into the dynamics of international markets and governance.
